Privacy

This is a personal site. It is deliberately simple: no accounts, no forms, no comments, and nothing to buy.

The short version

I do not collect anything about you. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, and no third-party scripts of any kind. The site sets no cookies.

The Growth Curve Analyzer reads the file you choose inside your own browser. The file is never uploaded, so I never see your data.

What your browser remembers

If you use the light/dark switch in the header, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it next time.

If you use Lumen, its notebook (your notes, saved setups, reading checkboxes and quiz answers) and its current control settings are saved the same way, so they are still there when you come back. Export notebook downloads a copy to your computer, and Import notebook reads a file you choose; both happen inside your browser.

None of this leaves your device and I cannot see it. Nothing else is stored. Clearing your browser's site data for bryanchen.net removes it, so export your Lumen notebook first if you want to keep it.

Fonts and other third parties

The fonts are served from this site itself rather than from a font service, so loading a page does not send your IP address to Google or anyone else. Every file the site loads comes from bryanchen.net.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify's servers necessarily process the requests your browser makes, and its infrastructure and access logs may record technical information such as IP address, the page requested, and the time. That happens at the hosting layer; it is not something I add, read routinely, or use to build any profile of visitors. Netlify's own privacy policy governs that processing.

If you email me

The “Email me” buttons open your own email program. If you write to me, I will have your message and your email address, and I will use them only to reply to you. I do not add anyone to a mailing list.

Links to other sites

This site links out to places like LinkedIn, the iGEM wiki, LIGATE and Venmo. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's site, under their privacy policy, not mine.

Your rights

Because I hold no personal data about visitors, there is normally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you have emailed me and would like our correspondence deleted, say so and I will delete it.

If this ever changes, for example if I add analytics, I will update this page and the review date above. Questions go to me by email.
